True and False Relations (1980) for ensemble

Duration: c.8 minutes

Commissioned by Cornelius Cardew

This "Overture" for 2 clarinets, viola, cello and 2 pianos was written for a benefit concert at Goldsmith's College, London, in June 1981.

There are three short sections, all based on a simple three-note cell, Fast-Slow-Fast, which require some virtuosity.
