A Silver Chanter (1980) for bass clarinet solo

Duration of all three movements: c.20 minutes
(But the movements may be played separately or in any combination)

Commissioned by Kevin Corner

This extended piece for bass clarinet represents my earliest explorations of "piobaireachd" (pibroch) the "classical" variation form for the Highland Bagpipe.
There are three movements: an expository "Prelude"; a central "Catastrophe" and a "Fugato" of great virtuosity.
