This little piano piece is based on a short work composer/pianist Michael Finnissy commissioned for a multi-premieres (1 minute each!) European recital tour beginning in Maastricht, in the Netherlands. It should give a young pianist something to think about…the ending is my riposte to Boulez’s expressed desire to “abolish the gruppetto”! It lasts about 5 minutes.
